Stage 1

From Menton to Sospel by bus

8:35 am: Time to go! Climb aboard line 15: for just €2 (or €1.80 if you pay by credit card), you’re off for a day with a guaranteed change of scenery.

9.15 a.m.: You’ve arrived in Sospel, a stopover village on the train des Merveilles. You have 1 hour to discover this jewel of the Bévéra.

  • Treat yourself to breakfast in Place Saint-Michel and visit the cathedral of the same name.
  • Cross the Pont-Vieux, a 13th-century structure offering an unbeatable view of the river and the village.

Stage 2

From Sospel to Tende on the Merveilles train

10:15am: All aboard the Merveilles Express! Destination? Tende!

Your extraordinary journey through the Bévéra and Roya valleys begins. Sit back and enjoy the journey… Here, we take our time and admire the scenery. Bonus: enjoy the commentary by our tour guide! Although the Train des Merveilles is a TER (regional express train), this activity is offered exclusively on weekends in April, May and October, and every day from June to September on the 10:15 a.m. train.

Breil-sur-Roya, Fontan, Saorge, La Brigue… you’ll pass through these emblematic villages of the Roya Valley. Make a note in your to-do list for next time!

Stage 3

Arrival at Tende

11:33 am: Welcome to Tende! You’re at the gateway to the Vallée des Merveilles, but do you know its legends? Visit the Musée des Merveilles to discover all its curiosities…

After a pizza break, explore the village! Picturesque and perched in the mountains, Tende offers exceptional panoramic views. Admire the Collégiale Notre Dame de l’Assomption – no two are alike!

Still have a little time to spare? Go for a hike! The Monument de l’Aigle circuit is an easy, family-friendly itinerary, and takes about an hour to complete. The Aigle hill offers a panoramic view of the village.
