CUMEŘCIÀA
ALPINE ECONOMY AND COMMERCIAL LIFE IN HAUTE ROYA FROM THE 19TH TO THE 20TH CENTURY
LECTURE-VISIT
by Silvia Sandrone, Director of the Musée Départemental des Merveilles
Between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the Alpine territories experienced widespread economic and social dynamism. The commercial infrastructures, forms of appropriation and management of territorial resources, as well as pluriactivity, seasonal mobility and the contribution of the family structure, typical of the Alpine economy, reveal an image that is much richer and more complex than the one we generally have. Come and discover the example of the Roya Valley, through a lecture followed by a guided tour of the temporary exhibition Cumeřciàa.
Saturday, September 20 at 4pm
Duration: 1h - Open to all

SEA & WONDERS
PRESENTATION AND FILM SCREENING
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Musée départemental
des Merveilles is celebrating 130 years of cinema with a screening of the first public showing of the Lumière brothers' cinematograph (1895), as well as highlighting amateur cinema in the Roya valley with La vallée des Merveilles (1953) and De la mer aux Merveilles (1955), the first amateur film in cinemascope.
The two films, with commentary by José Sacré, Guy Desmet and Gilbert Bianchi, will be presented by Jean-Michel Bianchi, heir to this exceptional cinematographic work, which, in the 1950s, provided a first glimpse of our valley's past.
In collaboration with the "Route Royale des Orgues" international festival.
Sunday, September 21 at 3pm
