La route del marguareis 2025

An extraordinary mountain bike adventure through the Mediterranean Alps. A new route for this MTB-VTTAE tour through the cross-border area from Tende - Saint Dalmas de Tende - Casterino - Limone Piemonte - La Brigue - Briga Alta to Chiusa Pesio, with panoramic views from the Ligurian Sea to the massifs of the western Alps. From Tende, we descend on the state road to the start of the renovated Casterino road to the Col de Tende, via the Peirafique drop. The Haute Route du Sel will take us to the main Alpine watershed through rocky environments and large pastures; watched over by the dolomitic mass of the Marguareis in the La Brigue area. After reaching the Cavane Morgantini (2300 m), the route continues at high altitude in the lunar and arid Conca delle Carsene in the municipality of Briga Alta. The renovated Ciclovia del Duca will guide us downhill through long hairpin bends on the Pesio valley side (municipality of Chiusa di Pesio): first into a wild, rugged valley, then through the tall fir woods of the Marguareis natural park to arrive in the historic center of Chiusa di Pesio. Each participant receives an event jersey.
