Transport: how do I get around the Menton, Riviera & Merveilles destination?

The Menton, Riviera & Merveilles destination is a sprawling area with a variety of unique landscapes! So how do you get around and experience all it in all its glory?

Luckily there are several options for getting around the Menton, Riviera & Merveilles area: bus, train, bike, taxi etc.

Roya Valley Access

As you probably know, Storm Alex hit our area hard on 2nd October in 2020. Please note that access to some Roya Valley towns and villages has been seriously affected. To ensure you have a great time, whether at mid or high altitude, we strongly recommend contacting the Tende Tourist Information service prior to your visit: +33 4 83 93 98 82 or tende-tourisme@menton-riviera-merveilles.fr.

Hop on the Zestbus in Menton to explore the French Riviera’s villages!

La Navette

A 100% electric bus to get around Menton

The French Riviera Community and Zest network have launched La Navette, a silent 100% electric bus with no CO2 emissions for an eco-friendly way to get around Menton town centre. The green La Navette bus has twenty seats and its battery lasts almost 200km. The daily service takes you from the train station to the market via the Biovès Gardens, seaside and Bastion. A non-stop service every 20 mins from 9am-6pm. And you don’t need to buy a pass as the shuttle bus is totally free.


Menton, Riviera & Merveilles is home to several train stations with TER, TGV and LGV train services.

Tourist trains

see another side to our gems

The region’s tourist trains are a greener way to travel and explore the French Riviera’s gems.

Hop on board the Train of Wonders in Nice to visit the Roya Valley in summer. The Train of Wonders service starts at 9.17am on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays from May 1st to 31st, daily from June 1st to September 27th and on Saturdays and Sundays from October 3rd to November 1st.

The Snow Train takes you from Nice to Casterino ski resort in winter. From January to March you can hop on board the Train of Wonders before catching the shuttle bus to Casterino ski resort (Tickets: 15€ for adults and 6.50€ for children aged 4-12).

A tourist train regularly runs through Menton to introduce you to the Pearl of France’s secrets.

Menton Tourist Information’s range of disabled facilities and services has seen it awarded the “Tourisme et Handicap” label making Menton a town for everyone:

  • Menton Tourist Information on 8 avenue Boyer, 06500 Menton has a disabled parking space just 3m from the entrance and flat flooring making it suitable for disabled visitors;
  • Traffic lights in Menton have a sound system;
  • The seaside has disabled access: it’s lovely to visit;
  • All the French Riviera buses are disabled-friendly;
