Ancien hôtel Pretti

Former Hotel Pretti

Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, listed (CMN) in Menton

  • Located opposite the Saint-Michel ramp, in the Genoese Baroque style, it comprises three floors and the date of 1649 is still visible on the façade. The building protected as a historic monument (16 November 1989) is still privately owned.

  • This mansion was built in the seventeenth century after Antoine Pretti, whose family owned a building there since 1533, was knighted by the Prince of Monaco and became lord of the fief of Saint-Ambroise (district of Carnolès).
It was redesigned in the late 19th century after the earthquake that struck the city in 1887. From this period date important "Pompeian" style decorations, made by local artists, which have substituted for Baroque elements.
