Discover the Galerie Jean-Georges Inca in the heart of Tende! An ideal all-weather cultural getaway to admire captivating works of art. Immerse yourself in art in the picturesque Piazza del Ponte, located in the medieval village.
Painter Jean Georges INCA (1927 - 2015) lived in France's Southern Alps, the mountains he called "open-air cathedrals" for the quest they inspired, his playground for probing the mystery of human adventure. This artist is particularly inspired by the mountains around Tende, where he lives: Mont Bégo and the Vallée des Merveilles. An avid reader, concerned by the clash of civilizations at the start of this millennium, by scientific, philosophical, religious, cultural and artistic mutations, this artist claimed timeless values, such as beauty in its absolute. Inhabited by "earth sickness", the painter joined his voice in his canvases to the call of all those fighting for the only emergency: to preserve the Earth and life on our planet, our "Ways of Light", according to the beautiful title of astrophysicist Trinh Xuan Thuan.
Above all, his work gives pride of place to paintings that oscillate subtly between the figurative and the abstract, depicting both the wildest and the purest natural elements, such as high mountains, volcanoes and poles, water, snow and fire.
