  • Itinerary offering different successive landscapes: forest of pines, firs and deciduous trees then a more arid landscape with more sparse vegetation.

  • - Take the Pia road (towards the campsite) for about 40 minutes, until you reach the bridge where you will find the 306 marker.
    - Go up the forest track on the right, direction “Rochers de Servia”. From there, a path joins the Escalette waterfall. Above Servia, exit direction Varne (b 309). From the rocks of Servia, the path descends slightly towards the Refrei valley.
    - Cross the valley to enter a wood of hazelnuts. You will come to a bridge over the torrent of Réfrei (b 316), cross the...

    - Cross the valley to enter a wood of hazelnuts. You will come to a bridge over the torrent of Réfrei (b 316), cross the bridge to access wooded slopes then to an open area which reaches the path of Réfrei (b 317) at the foot of the natural limestone tower of “Castel Tournou ".
    - Descent to the hamlet of Pia (b 318) and return to Tende by the same road as on the way there.

    Tourism info: The natural formation of Castel Tournou, ideally located, was excavated and fortified by the Italians in the interwar period.
