Lumones' Tomb
Historic site and monument, Ruins and remains, Historic patrimony
in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin
-
A Roman remnant, this funerary monument marks the passage of the Roman road "Julia Augusta". It features 3 arches with vaults and visible traces of frescoes.
-
The "Tomb of Lumone", long considered to be a kind of inn situated along the Roman road, is one of the elements of a possible necropolis.
Indeed, it is probably a monumental funerary enclosure whose entrance is located at the back and which can be dated to the end of the 1st century BC. This tomb houses the remains of a Romanized person whose identity is still unknown, the funeral inscription having now disappeared.
