Gérard-Haton-Gauthier is a multidisciplinary artist, combining pictorial and sculptural expression imbued with symbolism. Some of his paintings become sculptures in sheet steel.

Over the years, black has come to dominate the various representations: Indian ink, charcoal and black stone on canvas or marouflaged paper. This makes for an even more direct reading. Tackling the subject to the very depths of the soul is the essential element of his approach.
