Take off from the top of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and land by the shore. What sets this flight apart is that you glide over the sea. Mind-blowing views guaranteed! Mont Gros stands at an altitude of 686m making it the perfect place for your first time paragliding. It’s one of the best coastal paragliding sites in Europe. You won’t be able to take your eyes off the calm and glittering turquoise water lapping the shore below. Once you land, take a well-earned break on the beautiful Plage du Golfe Bleu beach.
The site is open from November 16th to April 30th inclusive with no restrictions. Since Plage du Golfe Bleu beach is very busy in summer, the town hall has applied time restrictions to flights.
World-famous Sospel sits at the junction between three valleys at the bottom of Mercantour National Park. This flight area is protected by a mountainous cirque whose summits peak at over 1000m. What sets this place apart is that paragliders can fly here all year round.
The three main take-off areas are ideal for long or cross-country flights. The 1800m tall Mangiabo is ideal for hang gliding tours with great views of the valleys and even Corsica when there are no clouds in the sky. The most popular place to take off is Agaisen Fort because of its unobstructed views of Sospel. Thrills guaranteed.
Col de Tende towers over the Roya Valley at an altitude of 1871m. It was once the highest point of the Salt Road. That’s why you’ll find the ruins of military forts that the Italians built here on this strategic site. It’s a great way to see the border ridgeline and Italian Alpine peaks. Paragliders come here in summer because it can be very cold with heavy snow at other times of the year. NB: the site is recommended for experienced paragliders.
