Le Camp d’Argent :

a ski resort steeped in history

The resort owes its name Camp d’Argent to a Napoleonic battle fought in 1793. Faced with an Austro-Sardinian army, General Masséna was victorious. In the Menton, Riviera & Merveilles area, history is never far away: legend has it that the place owes its name to the payrolls left behind by soldiers who were not very brave… For a winter walk in the footsteps of history, reach the summit of the Authion massif and the ruins of its military fort, a vestige that bears witness to the military history of the Vésubie valley.

Tips for a successful outing

on snowshoes

Before setting out on a hike, especially with the youngest members of your family, be sure to read the safety instructions and the weather forecast for the day. Mountain outings are not improvised, and professionals are there to guide and advise you.

When it comes to snowshoes and poles, ask the professionals for advice, specifying the nature of the hike. You’ll find equipment for hire at Turini Camp d’Argent or Tende. When it comes to equipment, no adventure is complete without suitable footwear and clothing. Gloves, hat and goggles are essential to protect you from the cold and sun. A backpack with hot drinks and energy supplies is also essential.
