Follow this track for about 2 km. You'll come to a hairpin bend with a spring. You may come across a small barrier with a rope, which you need to remove and put back in place to cross.

Follow the now uncovered track for a hundred metres or so, until you come to a hairpin bend where a small track runs straight up the mountainside. Follow this track and enjoy the view over the Vallée des prés, and soon over the whole Haute Roya. In the distance, you can see the ridge line with Mount Saccarello, Mount Bertrand and the Col de Tende. Around a bend, the track bends northwards to reach the Arpèse drop. Enjoy a moment's respite, before tackling the descent to the village of La Brigue.

Turn right onto the small path that leaves the drop. Be careful on the way down, as you may come across hikers or herds of cattle. The path is very steep, alternating between rocky ground and hidden pebbles. Don't let the scenery distract you too much!

The second third of the descent takes a path on the left through scree. Sensations guaranteed! Shortly afterwards, you'll make your way through undergrowth to reach the final third of this descent, which takes you across the Saint-Valentin plateau. Don't hesitate to put your foot down for a panoramic view of the village.

Follow the path under the pines to join the main trail, which winds its way up to the ruins of Château Lascaris.

    Congratulations, you've arrived!
