Balcon de Marta VTT(AE) La Brigue - Baisse de Sanson - Balcon de Marta

aThis round trip allows you to reach the ridge line at an altitude of more than 2000 meters. The climb is going to be epic, it is reserved for professionals if you go up on a classic mountain bike. On the other hand it will be a part of pleasure in mountain bike with electric assistance. Bring a picnic and water. Departure from the village at Place Saint-Martin. Continue past the Place de Nice, the center of the village, to reach the Pont de Boseille on your left. Follow the direction of Notre Dame des fontaines after having passed the rooster bridge and the lime kiln on your right. Arriving at the chapel you can enjoy the site. On the way back, it will be a good stop to recharge your batteries for a few minutes. Pass the chapel by the track which runs alongside it on the left and start the climb. Always climb following the track towards the linear pass, 1434 meters above sea level. On this large square, enjoy a little shade from the trees, before embarking on the 2nd climb. Follow the direction of the Sanson drop. Go past Le Collet and du Loup, shortly after you will find a large fountain to cool off. After this fountain you have almost arrived at the Sanson drop at an altitude of 1706 meters. You are then straddling the Franco-Italian border. Continue on your right following the direction Cime de Marta. A superb panorama of the Ligurian Alps is offered to you, in the early morning you can sometimes observe Corsica. Continue following the track until you reach a small intersection on your right which marks the arrival at the Marta plateau. Old barracks, now in ruins show you the way. Continue following the track on the contour line, passing the sheepfold towards Marta's balcony. When you arrive at beacon 253, continue your journey following a small track of grass and earth to the top of Marta's balcony, up there awaits you a breathtaking panorama over the entire Houte Roya and the Italian side. Below the valley of Bendola which descends towards the village of Saorge. The view of the ridge line is striking, below you can see the village of La Brigue, a tiny point in this grandiose setting. In the distance is the Authion massif to the west, the Col de Tende to the north, and Mount Sacarello to the east. Enjoy a moment. The return is via the uphill path.
