Bridge square (Section TB)

Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, Fountain, Square in Tende
  • The ancient « Ponte » Square, built on the Riou creek, was the market square and used to be surrounded by archways built underneath the houses.

  • The area around the fountain was destroyed by bombs during World War II. At the corner of the street “rue de France” and the square, stands the Lascaris palace which was built in the Renaissance. Following the street toward the Collegiate, you enter the religious quarters. On the curve on the right, there is a house dating back to the 13th century: with its dimension stone façade and its pointed arches it is one of the most ancient buildings in Tende.
