In recognition of the protection granted to them by Our Lady during the plague epidemic that ravaged the region in 1631, the Saorgians erected a chapel at the place called Maurion, where some inhabitants took refuge to escape the epidemic.
The walls of the chapel are covered with ex-votoen thanks to wishes granted. Every 8 September, Saorgiens and Fontanais meet in Maurion to pray to Our Lady and attend Mass followed by a blessing from the countryside and the sharing of the blessed bread. They then go for a picnic at the edge of the Cairos while waiting for vespers.
