In the Clemenceau square in the heart of the historical, tourist and commercial centre of the city, you can admire the beautiful facade of the Trenca de Monléon family mansion.
At the beginning of the 19th century, under the reign of Prince Honoré V, old warehouses located in the Pont Neuf district were demolished in order to create a square showcasing the Hotel Trenca de Monléon which housed the services of the Governor General of the Principality of Monaco. When it was annexed to France, this square took the name of Napoleon III. A fountain surmounted by a column supporting a bust of the Emperor is erected on this occasion.
