The Col de Tende tunnel, linking France and Italy in the heart of the Alps, has been accessible again since June 2025, but with modified timetables to facilitate modernization work.
EXCEPTIONAL CLOSURE - COL DE TENDE TUNNEL
Due to the arrival of the second stage of the Vuelta in Limone on Sunday August 24, the Col de Tende tunnel will be exceptionally closed to traffic from 10:00 am. Reopening the following day at 06:00.
Reopening of the Tende tunnel since June 28, 2025, information on traffic conditions. From Friday, July 18, 2025 to Sunday, September 14, 2025:
In the Italy - France direction, traffic will alternate between 6:00 and 20:30;
In the France - Italy direction, traffic will alternate between 6.15am and 8.45pm;
Vehicles over 3.5 tons, buses, bicycles, pedestrians and vehicles transporting dangerous goods will be prohibited.
As the "46 lacets" road is in the construction zone, access is closed to all types of vehicles. For bikes, detour via Casterino or take the Italian train between Tende and Limone.
