A major course reserved for seasoned riders and horses, this circuit takes place in a wild atmosphere, far from any civilization.
At the eastern end of the Alpes-Maritimes, the original Massif du Marguareis separates the upper Roya Valley from the Italian Tanaro and Pesio valleys, protected by a natural park. The Col des Seigneurs (2,111 m) faces the two slopes of the Marguareis (2,651 m), the culmination of the Ligurian Alps, and provides access to the most important Alpine karst system of the Piedmont, with over 150 km. of explored caves, reaching a depth of 1,000 m. An extensive route reserved for experience horse riders and horses, the route passes through wild surroundings far from any civilisation. The tranquillity of a night in the Italian refuge of Don Barbera is a chance for trekkers to rest before taking the difficult route to the Rochers de Servia, the high point of the itinerary.
