Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the building, which is classified as a historical monument, now offers an abundance of plant life.
Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the building, which is classified as a historical monument, stands out from the other local creations at the time with its simpler and more uniform facade. Like many establishments on the Côte d'Azur, it was requisitioned as an auxiliary hospital during the First World War. Marie Curie also established her radiography laboratory there.
Today, the Imperial offers an abundant plant inventory with, at the entrance to the park, beautiful specimens of palms such as Washingtonia, known as "petticoat palms". Araucaria trees stand above a beautiful variety of citrus trees such as lemon and mandarin. Closer to the palace, Eucalyptus and Ficus macrophylla provide welcome shade in summer. Albizia, Brugmentias, Thumbergias but also Ipomae bring multiple variations of colours throughout the year in this exceptional garden.
