Description
Stroll between shady forests and sunny hillsides to Granile, a perched hamlet where historical heritage and rural traditions meet. A journey of contrasts and forgotten stories.
Itinerary
- Take the Castérino road (RD 91), pass the station and cross the torrent.
- Turn left (b.72) and follow the small road.
- Turn right onto the footpath.
- Cross the Granile road (RD 191 - b.239).
- Climb under the foothills of Mont Bonsapel and reach marker 238.
- Turn left and continue climbing (b.222).
- Turn left to reach the Gauron barns.
- Cross the undergrowth to within a few metres of the summit of Mont Bonsapel (1,340 m - b.221).
- On the south-facing slope, descend towards Granile and cross the penstock.
- Follow the signposted route to the hamlet of Granile (1,030 m - b.220).
- Leaving the village, follow the road (RD 191) and shortcuts to the intersection below the cliff (b.41b).
- Turn right downhill and follow the signs.
- This leads to the access road to the hydroelectric plant (b.41a).
- Turn left onto the RD 6204 to cross the bridge.
- Reach the start parking lot.
