As every year, the last Sunday of September is dedicated to the celebration of St Michael. The protector of the city is honored by its inhabitants.
Considered the most powerful and the most beautiful of all angels – particularly popular in Provence – Saint Michel has been watching, alongside Saint Peter, over Menton and its inhabitants for centuries. In the past, his feast marked the point of departure or renewal of the leases, the expression «to make Saint Michel» meant then the end of the lease, the moving. Programme : 9.45 am - Welcome by the authorities 10:00 - Solemn Mass celebrated by Father Régis PEILLON, Parish Priest of Notre Dame des Rencontres and Rector of the Basilica of Saint-Michel Archange. With the participation of the La Garde Band, the La Garde and Place du Cap Alumni Choir, the Capeline and students from Villa Blanche. 11:30am - Departure of the procession towards the Francis Palmero esplanade. Francis Palmero Esplanade 12.15pm - Speech 13:00 - Saint-Michel's grand lunch 3.00 pm - Induction of new members of the Confrérie de l'Etiquette. Presentation of Mentonnais wines. In the event of rain, the event will take place at the Palais de l'Europe.
