As every year, the last Sunday of September is dedicated to the celebration of St Michael. The protector of the city is honored by its inhabitants.

Considered the most powerful and the most beautiful of all angels – particularly popular in Provence – Saint Michel has been watching, alongside Saint Peter, over Menton and its inhabitants for centuries. In the past, his feast marked the point of departure or renewal of the leases, the expression «to make Saint Michel» meant then the end of the lease, the moving.
