Refuge de la Gasta, Lieu dit Gias de la Gasta, Hameau de Casterino, 06430 Tende
A three-day stay to discover the resplendent June mountains and their age-old pastoral culture.
The Roya valley is one of the few areas in France where transhumance between winter and summer quarters is still entirely on foot. Join us for the last days of this age-old migration to the gentle mountain pastures. Accompanied by a local guide and shepherds, you'll share in their daily lives and discover the incredible natural and cultural wealth of this valley straddling the border between France and Italy.

On the first evening, you'll enjoy the comfort of the guest rooms at the refuge de la Gasta, a cosy eco-lodge nestled in the mountains at the gateway to the Mercantour Park. Enjoy a gourmet dinner with local flavors. On the second day we dine with the shepherds and spend the night at the Hôtel Marie Madeleine in Castérino.

WARNING: This is a transhumance trip. This experience allows you to discover an agricultural activity at its most authentic. Spring weather conditions and the vagaries of the shepherd's work make it impossible to announce a precise departure several months in advance. The transhumance will take place either on the weekend of June 26/27/28 or July 3/4/5. The exact date will be known in early June. In the meantime, we advise you to block both weekends, in the knowledge that one of them will be released.
