The route passes through the old village and then a little-used road, before continuing along a panoramic path offering superb views. The descent is through undergrowth, through a magnificent forest of hundred-year-old chestnut trees.
Pass through the old town of Tende. After the collegiate church, turn right and climb towards the Les Carlines B&B (marker 64). At marker 65, follow the road to Speggi.
After a few hairpin bends, marker 342 indicates the start of the Chemin des Bois. Follow this balcony path to marker 347. After crossing the bridge, leave the main path and start downhill towards Saint-Dalmas-de-Tende.
Join the road and follow it for about 300 m to the crossroads leading to Castérino, then continue for another 150 m to the left to reach the station.
👉 Return to Tende by bus or train.
🟢 Worth knowing: Tende's chestnut groves are among the largest in the Alpes-Maritimes.
