Take your time

Rethink how you spend your time on holiday! What if taking your time became the ultimate luxury? What if taking time to reflect became a must? Can you imagine? If you love slow tourism, you’re sure to love our region!

The gardens:

Places to relax

The gardens in the city centre and along the coastline, are real places to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of life. Whilst the Riviera gardens have a well-established reputation, it is worth highlighting their astonishing diversity. These “Jardin remarquable”, citrus gardens and parks are open to the public for all to enjoy. Whether you are looking for a botanical experience, having a picnic with your family or just taking a break from the hustle and bustle of life, you’ll find a garden here to suit you.

Hiking:

The pleasure of walking on foot

Put one foot in front of the other and keep going! Could walking become the highlight of your holiday? The Menton, Riviera & Merveilles region offers hiking enthusiasts a unique, rich and varied terrain to explore. From the coast, venture out to Cap Martin following the Customs Officers’ Trail to enjoy stunning views, where nature and architecture come together along this path. The hilltop villages also offer beautiful walking tours in the surrounding area where the mountain literally flows into the sea. Unique scenery for a unique experience! The higher and mid-countryside are sure to delight, not only for more challenging day hikes but also for those lasting several days, offering an exceptional opportunity to spend time in Mercantour Park’s refuges!

Soft mobility:

and the art of “taking your time”

For the past ten years or so, Mercantour Park has been promoting a soft mobility policy within its boundaries, with a dual focus on accessibility and alternative, more environmentally-friendly transport, based on the motto “take your time”. Visitors benefit from hiking tours which can be reached without the need of a car, and cycle routes. The “Ecomobility” label allows the park to promote all the initiatives that fall within the framework of this policy. Visitors are encouraged to take the Train des Merveilles, a unique experience and a trip in itself, as well as a way of travelling with a lower environmental impact than a car. The service passes through the villages of Sospel, Breil-sur-Roya, Saint-Dalmas-de-Tende, La Brigue and Tende, providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy some great “ecomobile” day trips!

The shuttle bus

An entirely electric bus service

In Menton, we welcome the city’s initiative to set up a fully-electric shuttle bus service for getting to the city centre. Operating all year round, it connects 10 stations and runs from the train station to Les Halles market. With services every 20 minutes and free for all, there’s no reason to miss out!
