Meeting our traditions

The Lemon Festival

February

Since 1934, the love affair between lemons and the people of Menton has been so strong that the Fête du Citron® takes place every year. Every year, this unique event attracts 250,000 spectators from all over the world! Every year, the corsos mentonnais, or citrus float parades, rival the world’s finest carnivals. A colorful, flavorful event not to be missed!

Sainte-Marguerite – Saint-Eloi – Stacada

July

Roquebrune-Cap-Martin celebrates Sainte-Marguerite with delicious barbajuans and strolls through the narrow streets of the medieval village.
The second weekend in July, Tende celebrates Saint-Eloi, patron saint of muleteers. Members of the Confrérie organize a magnificent cavalcade through the village, with horses and mules dressed in their finest finery to the sound of brass bands and traditional groups. Numerous events and concerts are scheduled for both days!

On the last weekend of July, the village of Sainte-Agnès puts lavender in the spotlight: the whole village comes together for a truly unique lavender festival! Activities, workshops, a lavender ball and a Provencal market punctuate this festive weekend. Take the opportunity to visit Sainte-Agnès, a medieval town with the most impressive panorama on the Côte d’Azur!

In Saorge, take part in the Tourte festival: you’ll be able to taste it hot from the oven, in the company of the villagers. A moment of sharing and generosity not to be missed!

Experience La Brigue in the time of the Lascaris! This medieval village welcomes you for a weekend of festivities and family entertainment.

In Breil-sur-Roya, every four years, the spectacular Stacada presents a historical re-enactment, an ancestral tradition rooted in the village’s history.

August 5th Procession – Saint-Bernard

August

Roquebrune-Cap-Martin hosts the August 5th Procession, a tradition that dates back to 1467, when the prayers of the Roquebrunois put an end to the plague that was ravaging the region.
For five centuries, a hundred actors have been performing six scenes from the Passion! An authentic and moving experience!

Around August 15, Moulinet hosts four days of festivities in honor of its patron saint, Saint-Bernard. Trout fishing, aubades and bonfires are all part of the festivities!
Castellar also celebrates Saint Bernard. Numerous musical events punctuate the weekend around August 20! Don’t miss the famous pistou soup, or the country picnic with its guinguette atmosphere.

Colors and Flavors – Elm

September

Around September 15, Beausoleil celebrates Piedmont gastronomy at the Italian Colors and Flavors market, a preview of the Alba Truffle Fair.

And don’t miss Gorbio’s Fête de l’Orme. Immerse yourself in 18th-century Gorbio! During this festival, the locals celebrate their elm tree, planted in 1713. Period costumes and an evening banquet for participants!

On the last weekend of September, Sospel organizes its Fête Agricole: farms and holdings open their doors, with tastings of pistou and baleti soup, and a competition for the best chard pie, sponsored by Slow-Food Sud-Est. A popular event! Don’t forget to book.
