Description
A GLIMPSE INTO THE OPERA “Attila” by Pietro Andrea Ziani
A Baroque opera, premiered in 1672 and dedicated to the Prince of Monaco at the time!
The Stylus Luxurians ensemble, back in residence at the Saorge Monastery, is currently working on a score by this 17th-century Venetian composer, who apparently had ties to the Principality of Monaco...
Come discover the astonishing history of this opera and the remarkable work the musicians are doing to breathe new life into this little-known work from the Baroque repertoire.
Enjoy a sneak preview of the melodies and arias from this surprising opera during a musical stroll through the monastery’s magnificent flower garden, followed by a concert in the monastery’s stunning Notre-Dame-des-Miracles Church.
ON THE PROGRAM:
5:00 p.m.: Presentation and discussion about the opera (lecture – screening in the refectory)
6:00 p.m.: Musical surprise in the garden
6:30 p.m.: Concert in the monastery church
As it does every year, this remarkable project will culminate in the creation of a full-scale opera, which will be staged and performed in August as part of the Roya Early Music Festival.
